Square eyes?

Yikes! GaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAHHHH!!!

I left the apartment once today. Stayed home for research (and maybe 30 minutes programming) all day. I didn't even notice that the time was moving so fast. It really wasn't a wasted day, but I had hoped to be done with the programming by now. Instead, I think I've planned enough to be done with the programming wednesday morning. I have to remember leaving the apartment for at least an hour tomorrow - even though all that sun does weird things to the eyes, sight and skin...

I wrote four pages for the report - all just pseudocode and short algorithm explanations for the small part I have left to program. I have a feeling that my parts of this report could become over 100 pages like that, but I'll probably find a way to keep it less than 50 pages. Instead of continuing on a structured version of the report, I started on one document which was supposed to contain info about one thing, but it ended up containing a lot of things surrounding it as well (how to find it, what you can derive from it etc..)

I'm looking forward to friday bar this week - will be the first time since early spring (February? March?). Will be good relaxing, especially if everything goes as planned (including tomorrow nights footie game, which I won't attend). To try avoid jinx, I won't say more...

.. walking on an sunday afternoon..

[Posted completely in tired-speak]
Sunny Sunday - so good to me...

Well, I think I've fixed all glitches (pepper pepper or whatever you say in english - *throwing salt over the shoulder*) in my thesis application GUI, and created a whole new part which worked right away (could reuse a lot of code, so was easy). And there's still half a day left to get started on the last part of the app, that is showing the 3d models after finding all corners etc. Hopefully that will work as I think, and then be finished late tonight or mid-tomorrow.

I even had the time for a walk... about an hour it took... now I have a pizza getting ready in the oven..

Easy like sunday morning

beautiful day here - gonna go and check it out

so what r you up to ?

Elections, nightmare and thesis stress

Seven hours until the swedish election polling stations close, and they start counting votes. I'm actually nervous, since this is an election where I think it's more important than ever that we get the right result. Otherwise I believe the country will plunge into financial, educational and 'unemploymentational' turmoil.

I had a nightmare last night, and I still remember it! Somehow (in the nightmare), I had misunderstood something about my thesis deadline, and it was supposed to be today - when there's also the elections and a couple of important footie games! I somehow wrote 80 in 30 minutes, finished the programming part, and then turned it in a minute late and thereby failed. There's no stress like thesis stress - it can crush any mind over such a long time (8 months so far, 1.5 month left) with new complex mathematical and computational algorithms each day, while being asked by everyone you talk to about what you will work with afterwards, and how easy that kind of job is to get etc - there's no rest in any part of your life! One comment works better than most: 'GaaaaaAAAHH!!!'.

Tonight I'll go for election dinner at my parents, so call my skype n:o to reach me. I'll keep the laptop close, and hopefully be able to work on the thesis a bit while following the results. After that nightmare I'm not letting it go until I get the grade!

Medicine against boredom!?

When people have long travels or similar, something called 'the hotel death' in swedish can sometimes occur. For example, this occurs to many footie players when in a big tournament such as the World Cup or similar. There are many things you could do, such as take a walk in the park, go shopping or sit and have some coffee. The problem is that after doing these things a few times, day after day with the same events, you get bored - and suffer the 'hotel death'...

Similar things can occur when doing a big project, such as a university thesis - often lasting 6-9 months with constant pressure and no time to do all the bigger things you need. For example, I could easily take a walk every day - but that gets boring, and you hate it when the weather gets bad. I could go to my Uni every day, and sit there instead - but that gets boring, and also annoying when people chatter all the time. Every option I find is something I've done a thousand times before, and it's obviously boring the crap out of me! Of course, the thesis work is suffering from my boredom, which is actually at the same time motivating to get rid of and get som change....

My current weapon against boredom is to go to the library most of the days. Next week I'll start going to the Uni again instead - just to have some change...

I'm looking forward to my short trip to London at the start of October. Going to some markets and maybe some clubs and pubs could help a bit.

DIY is sweet

Doing stuff yourself keeps u moving - and that is busy with it even if ur not crafting at it at the moment.the day of helped get new energy. Its the fun thing when we say we need a break to take our mind of things exactly the opposite happens our subconcious is working it all out for us. The Human Body is wonder fulthing - in every possible meaning . Dont you think? Anyway- today is painting day - Hope u r having a good day.
I am enjoying myself with some music from my ipod. and cleaning up my mailaccount.
But now back to painting - the music stays on ofcourse ! ;)

London curiosities...

I've been reading a few tips for swedes moving to London lately, just to be prepared in a few months. The reason I do it already is because someone is moving there tomorrow, and that motivated me a bit :-)

One interesting thing, which could be helpful also for other europeans who have the same type of power outlets we do, is that you can actually use our two-plug cables directly in a brittish outlet, if you put a non electricity-leading object into the third hole. It's recommended only to do it with things you're not as careful about though, so don't plug in the laptop the first thing - then it's still a better idea with the adapter ;-) Of course, the fire insurance probably wouldn't be valid if you use this method...

If a swedish person would get homesick, then he or she should simply go to the swedish parts, with the swedish church, embassy, store and pub on short distances close to Marylebone Rd.

The pub Harcourt Arms has free wireless access (if you buy something to eat or drink), show swedish footie and serves swedish cider - and of course they have swedish staff...

Islington/N1 has free wireless access along Upper Street from Angel to Highbury & Islington which is called "StreetNet" - no username or such needed, me like!

If you're interested ingetting a broadband connection you can check what's available in your area, and then compare different providers.

An often recommended site for jobs, travelling, renting of flats/rooms etc is gumtree. They also have forums to discuss ads, which helps a lot against overpricing or fraud.

Of course all this looking around me want to go to London soooo much, so I booked a ticket for October 5th-9th. Now I have to work a lot to get enough money for survival - this ticket together with the Champions LEague ticket I got set me back wwaaaaaaay toooo muuuuuch!!! I sent an e-mail to one of my clients/employers to see if there's more work, since I'm guessing I won't get more money from the swedish study loan board (or whatever you want to call it in english). YIKES!!!

Good Luck with the move to London tomorrow my Schweeeeeet! I'll be moving after you in a few months ;)
