Abitur! Graduation! Finally?

I'm really happy for ye, me love!

I hope you had a great day, and that those teachers of yours made a play worthy of you :)

Of course, we both know that you'll have a great career/life with whatever you want to do, but still... Please, sit down and look at your grades and the paper saying that your the best student of your school! It means something - and something means much more than potato mash!!

Ttys! Congrats to a great night!

Thursday Thursday! It's a wonderful day!

So, to start with some background, thursdays are thursdays! It's true, and I won't take no for an answer!

Over to the 'not so good' news: Our supervisor told us today that there's too small chance of being done at September 1st to even try, considering the chance of a great grade, publication (CVPR), travel sponsorship etc. that we could get from the thesis. He said that we have a good thing going, which could end up with us travelling to Chicago next year, with much of the payments covered :)

Over the weekend, I'm borrowing a video camera, which in the end will help me create textures for 3d models (building from the middle ages).

Tomorrow (maybe Saturday) I'm getting a haircut...

So, do bears have more fun than rabbits?

Last night, I stayed up until 2:30 to test my "texture generator algorithm" - it took 5-45 minutes each time a changed something, and I didn't solve it until 30 minutes before meeting the supervisor... and of course, then I didn't get the chance to show it (long story)

Currently, I'm watching 'A beautiful mind' on TV - it's inspiring in a few ways, but also sometimes scares me away from concentrating too much on one issue, which in turn makes me unfocused and thereby confused. I say 'Arrrrghh' and continue watching :)

I'm having GIGANTIC troubles with my connection today - of humongous proportions!

As I said, Thursdays are Thursdays, and there's no holier day of the week!

Yesterday, the local footie club (HIF), sold a left back noone liked (he didn't exactly succeed here, even though he came with a good CV from one of the regions most succesful clubs). Today, an argentinean U20-player, from River Plate (my favorite South American team, and also the highest ranked, as 14th in the world), was announced as training with the squad. These two combined were of course great news even by themselves to any fan of the team.

In the recent months, the team has been trying to sign a new coach. Today, a new coach (one of the coaches with the greatest history in swedish football, Stuart Baxter, with a lot of valuable international experience) was presented, together with a new Director of Sports (basically meaning 'Chief of Footie Affairs'). This is just another in a number of thursdays where good news have been announced (for example a few player signings, including Ghod/Dio/'Henrik Larsson'). Therefore, I now declare thursday the holiest day of the week. If you don't believe in it, maybe you should ask Ghod ;p

All in all, I've had a pretty nice day...

w00t! Anyway! WoW!

After talking on the phone and the end of ST, I considered doing a Yoga to stretch some soar muscles etc. So I started the other computer, started the prog and then my profile. But, before I knew it, I had started a 'real' workout session instead of the yoga version... Luckily, I got a flexibility workout, which is of course basically the same as the yoga - but with 15 minutes of warmup before starting ;) So, total 30 minutes, 145 calories and the major burns I had in some muscles are gone for the moment

Writing here now

Yup, I just wrote something - now you can't complain that I didn't write today ;-p

Also interesting to anyone reading - I now know why I'm allergic to everything. When I was growing up, the environment (house etc.) was simply too clean...

In other news, I can still feel the effect of yesterdays coffee on my sandpaper tongue! Perhaps I shouldn't have 1.5 liter next time ;-)

The world is not enough - how about going to Saturn for a vacation? Atlantis? Oh, or maybe no vacation - oops!

Weight loss 101 - find out the myth breakers! I especially like the following:
"I can eat as much as my 6-foot-2-inch husband."
You probably know that this isn't true--as much as you want it to be so. Many women tell me that they gained weight when they were first married and began eating the same food portions as their husbands. Your husband has more muscle mass and is probably taller, and he therefore burns more calories each day than you do. You must stick to smaller food portions in order to lose weight.

Workout #129 (with the prg): 341 calories in 45 minutes

To relax after the workout, it could be nice to have some laughs with 'la linea'/'linus på linjen'. tv5 put 56 episodes of the classic line walker up so far (starts right away after page loads, other episodes are under the video) :D

Sweaty day!!

Aaaaah!!! Soooo warm today!!!

I had a morning Yoga, and an afternoon workout (30 minutes, 251 calories) and some laundry today.

The food, hmmmm... Salad for lunch, gröt for breakfast and a warm veggie mix for dinner.

Salad , Proteins and Sufficiency

Today I started to catch up on my science vocabulary - also trying to recover some of my biology knowledge. Doing that while taking part in the wikipedia biology project, where I already wrote my first entry - on carrier proteins. It's tiny - but it's a start.
Garden work is another activity I tackled today. While everyone else in the whole of Germany and Sweden was watching 22 men competing for a ball - as if 2 werent enough -
I was ploughing through the sandy earth in our garden. It was remarkably silent no children screaming - no dog barking even, I wonder what they did to the dogs during the game - anyway this was interrupted by 2 major applauding , screaming and fireworks phases. During those I inwardly send my condolences to my swedish friends before I continued sowing "Lamb's Lettuce".
Later the family had the first self harvested salad of the year - needless to say it was extraordinary. Maybe a bit like the first potatoes to some Swedes.
With that we had "Frikandellen" or "Bulleten" how they are sometimes called which are somewhat similar to the swedish meatballs - just shaped differently.

The garden work really exhausted me - as you might have heard on the phone.
Just hope it is worth the effort - last time the of 50 seeds 10 plants budded.

Midsummers eve

Midsummers eve, one of the most beloved days of the year in Swedish culture. The youngest ones dance with the oldest ones around a high pole, while wearing flowers in the hair and singing about frogs without ears and tails. The young girls collect seven, or nine, types of flowers to put under their pillow at night - hpoing to dream about the one they are destined to marry (no, I don't know if anyone actually does that anymore).

After the dance around the pole, the people go to eat. There's pickled herring, onion herring, curry herring, mustard herring, chili herring and new potatoes, accompanied by butter, chive, snaps, beer and cream. Some people exchange the herrings for meatballs and chipolitas - how weird are they? Of course this feast is followed by strawberrys with either milk or more cream, often with extra sugar on.

Usually I really enjoy this kind of herring-, snaps- and strawberry-celebration of the summer, but it also depends on the people present. The occasion, of course, needs to be accompanied by merry talk and sometimes by merry but weird songs about the snaps (the whole goes is the most classic one). This year there's only two others where I've been invited, and it's where I always end up doing most of the work - any question to why I'm probably not going?

If I move abroad to a big city, this will probably be the most important celebration to me, since it's typical swedish - something I miss already while still living here, in the politically overcorrected country it has become....

I'm considering going downtown tonight, to Gröningen (the Greening), and see if it could be worth sitting down for some people-watching, while having a cold beer in - hopefully - warm and sunny weather.

Most important of all in the world is education, and therefore I now wish to educate you in the famous frog song:
Små grodorna, små grodorna är lustiga att se.
Små grodorna, små grodorna är lustiga att se.
Ej öron, ej öron, ej svansar hava de.
Ej öron, ej öron, ej svansar hava de.
Kou ack ack ack, kou ack ack ack,
kou ack ack ack ack kaa.
Kou ack ack ack, kou ack ack ack,
kou ack ack ack ack kaa.
A happy midsummer to you, and if you collect seven or nine different kinds of flowers to put under the pillow at night, I hope you have nice dreams ;)

This n' that! A bit of annoyment and stress

Working out can help focus. It did for the moment. After I was done though, I went back down to my previous depressed/stressed state of being, which I've been having 1-2 months now...

I believe it's impossible for people to this stress, before having gone through a real thesis. I don't mean a cut-n-paste thesis like in economy and wysiwyg designers do, or a tree hugging thesis like some do. I mean a cutting edge thesis, where all the information you can get is cryptic and never standardized.

The books and articles are full of math, but always with different letters and explanations on how things work. The programming is with illogical languages and libraries which are either not popular enough to be documented, or documented in more than one way with different meanings - either way, there's no way of getting a good break without finding a new problem right after.

At the same time think that a student always has a lot of extra time, and is just waiting for time to pass and recieve the degree. Those people of course also think you should visit and help them pretty often, with everything from minor computer problems to painting or driving people from one place to another. If you then are talked into driving someone and therefore borrow the car, you are either stuck with paying everything yourself or with driving the car back and walking 20-30 kilometers. If you decide to park the car somewhere close, of course you'll have to pay the parking ticket yourself, since you decided not to spend the whole night with driving around and hoping for a good place where there's no chance of getting a ticket - which is either far away in time searching or place, compared to where I live - on almost any evening. Well I payed the ticket, but I'll never borrow the car, or help them drive people around again....

The workout: 251 calories in 31 minutes according to the program, but probably less than 200 since I did the lazy option more often than not. I'll go downtown for the vegetable market later to compensate though. By the way, this never happened and I don't want any questions about working out as long as my allergies are this bad!!!

"Like That!"

Morning !
Do you remember me mumbling something about me recognizing the name of a scientist and architect when I read to you last night.
Well I did some reading about Christopher Wren and it turns out he is a rather interesting man - gifted, universally in a DaVinci kind of way - and just as him very much ahead of his time.

Being so lucky to come from a family befriended with the british monarch he became architect to the throne - As the Kings personal city planner
he designed buildings which have shaped Londons cityscape until today.
Alone the churches he build hit the number of 50 ! - half of them however where destroyed since the 17th century.
As a scientist he made funny experiments with dogs - which I think should become more popular again. But read for yourself:

“I Have Injected Wine and Ale in a living Dog into the Mass of Blood by a Veine, in good Quantities, till I have made him extremely drunk,” wrote the young Christopher Wren in 1656. “But soon after he Pisseth it out…it will be too long to tell you the Effects of Opium, Scammony & other things that I have tried this way: I am now in further pursuit of the Experiment.”

Thats kind of science I like - yo see stuff happening AND you can torture dogs.

However Christopher Wren did not design the "Footstool" like I thought (whoops) - it was Thomas Archer. This little story gave the footstool its name :

"Thomas Archer, consulted Queen Anne on the design of the new church. In reply the monarch petulantly kicked over her footstool and snapped 'like that!'

Both were in my presentation about cultural life in London though - since both designed buildings which now a used for concerts. So a little breakdown in brain matter organization.

Need to get some new organization charts for up there I suppose.

Hope you dont mind this excursion into my brain junctions - Also sorry if you feel kicked out of this blog - I love reading through ur brain junctions.

Luv from your honey

Coffee? Coffee good!

It is one of these days again - sleepy bugs have conquered most parts of my grey and white brain matter - only way to beat them seems to be with "brown-anti-matter".

*getting coffee so I dont fall asleep in my chair*

Alright, *bing* , everyday I think this most be the best coffee ever.
Eitherway it sure is sleep anti-dode.
So before the "sleepbugs" have a chance to fight back I'll get working.

-> write a protocol for a meeting I attended on thursday
--> apply for some flatshares - still havent done that *rüffel*
---> contact peolple from my tutor-group so we can buy a present for our tutor
------ and additions I come up with over the day (hopefully)

Have a nice day.

Bye for now from the CFP("Coffee for president - Party")

Thoughts of the I, the me and the superMe..

That all men are equal is a proposition which, at ordinary times, no sane individual has ever given his assent.
- Aldous Huxley

Today, I'm really having a confused day in many ways. I managed to solve a corrupt memory issue (translating between C, C++ and C# is not always the easiest) in my thesis application. I also managed to solve some other minor issues, after getting over the illogical stumbling block....

Currently I'm trying to create a series of philosophical articles on my 'political/philosophical blog'. I am considering the reasons to why the language and quality of newspaper articles aimed at the general public has deteriorated in the last 10-20 years. This is something I find very interesting, and at the moment I can't fully understand the reason. Hopefully, I can figure something out simply by writing a few thoughts down...

A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.
- Joseph Stalin

Moin, Moin

Having a hard day ahead. Politics keep me ticking. Besides my loving boyfriend they are actually the only thing that doesnt make me wanna go berzerk.

Anyway before jump in to my presentation about Venezuela - I am taking a look back to what I created yesterday:

Hope you like it - its not a 100% done I just kept adding things that made it more and more difficult - and the heat didnt help either.

btw: I worked out for 30 mins after we talked: If Maya had asked me I would have answered : "Sweating like a pig"

The "swing eqipment" is a good help for kick and step workouts. Lucky Me ;o)

This is a magical "heroine" flower from our garden. Enjoy

Ojojoj!

I just saw another episode of ST:TNG on TV. It really feels ancient now compared to how it seemed when I first saw the series. At least it's not as old as TOS ;)

Today it's so warm that I don't know where to go. It feels like over 30-35 degree both in- and outside. As a northerner, I'm melting. At least I could sleep a little last night, after not having the windows opened at all yesterday. Today I'll just close them 'early' instead - some air is needed once in a while after all, even though it's full of allergens...

Coffee is good for you, so why not make a wine-coffee mix? Then you get something for the liver and something for the heart. Maybe we'll all perish before needing to care, now that there's a fiery fireball in the neighbourhood. The brits won't even be othered by that though, if it's the wrong time of the day. Since christmas is around the corner (or did I just misunderstand July=Juletid=Xmastime?), I'm starting a wishlist...

Sooooo tired!

I managed to sleep between 6:30 and 7:30 in the morning today. I would've stayed home for more sleep if I hadn't promised to bring a camera back to the thesis supervisor. It took two hours after getting to the uni before I actually found him. Meanwhile I made another movie, made the camera calibration part of the software work, and started planning more in detail for the next step - and also printed a couple of articles about photogrammetry (making 3d models from photos). So I got a lot of things done even though I wasn't really awake :-)

Nice weekend, cya soon :-)

The latest Dr-ep is a nice watch. It could actually get people to think of those weird godly things...

I'm happy that my painting was well recieved by my graduating brother, even though I'm never sure of what any relative really thinks when I give a present...

Aaaaanyway, I had a good weekend, and hope we can play with the frisbee soon again :-)

Until next time, if you have nothing to do, you can always stare at the Blue Ball Machine... Personally, I'll be busy with my thesis work software and report. When I get on with the report, I'll also post (mostly) the same in my developer blog. Hopefully I can do some of that from your place, for a week or so in July..

By the way, I like the moviestar look for ye ;-)

New Freedom , New Choices

After sleeping a convinient amount - not to late to miss all day not to early to feel hung over - I decided to tackle some things I always wanted to do.

For example - and maybe this is sth you can help me with :

  • I want a blog page with a world map containing symbols that serve as links - but also at the same time give an overview of different circumstances.
Like a weapon for war - at the same time linking to articles about that war.
or a $ -sign for a strong economic area etc
This could diversify into many maps to different topics.

Ofcourse - I could use html and a map-image and then enter coordinates. At the same time I dont now how to get symbols in there then without having to make a new map everytime or putting the map into the background and symbols on top.

Anyway I was thinking that maybe you have and idea how to do that smoothly.

Other things I should do is clean up here , throw away alot and keep the biology stuff and not much else if I can manage. YOu know my messy attitude.

Well to kick things off I shall go running now - hopefully the weather god (whats his nordic name again?) will be good to me.

For tonight I looked up a self-defence course I may visit if I find time to buy shoes for that.

If the weather strikes through my plans - which it seems like pretty much :/ I still have to find an apartment for august which I can look into online. I think I send u the link.

    Au Revoir

    Another day, another workout..

Today's workout: 30 minutes and 139 calories (flex mode)
Yesterday: 30 minutes and 241 calories (lower body)

So far today I have done almost nothing, after planning to work all morning, I planned my work instead (which of course makes the work itself much more effective) and had the workout to get myself going :-)

Now I've started the thesis work, by looking at where and what to change - so new code fits with old...

I'm considering watching the movie '[insert name of bad movie here]' later ,which seems like a very exiting movie ;-)

Have a pleasant day, and may the Pingst be with you....

    ---

EDIT: I 'watched' the movie already, and it was one one of te worst I've seen! I even decided to take away the name of it from the blog post, that's how bad it was!!

Currently I'm actually baking bread - corn bread of my own invention (not trying to infringe on patents, I didn't invent corn bread, I just didn't follow a recipe all the way :p). The bread contains yeast, sugar, water, flour, corn and a bit of oil. I mostly followed a recipe, to get the right foundation, and then added some corn to what would've basically become normal white bread. Now it's in the oven and I'm hoping for good results

New Day , New Energy , New Creations

Today I made a bag for my friens Marion - it is intended as a birthdaypresent for her.

I worked all day on it - Was lots of fun to see my creation grow , even more because I
was making it for someone I really like and who has given me a lot of faith in myself.

It was as if my thankfulness and admiration for her were flowing into the piece which every stitch.
I waited until I was done with it to congratulate her - gladly I called my brother first. He told me that Marion's Birthday indeed is on the 4th , the 4th of July !
    Pretty hilarious -

The physical energy I had pilled up in me - sitting in front of the sewing machine all day - then drove me out of the house for a run. A run and lots of stretching.

My back still aches a bit though. ;/
Well time just flies when I am sewing somehing - before I knew 5 hours had passed.
You can imagine what sitting in the same position for 5 hours does to one's back.

In closing : Thank you very much for the effort you have done with making a new blog - and at the same time transforming this one.
I admire your energy and already checked out your new one - its pretty amazing
    in my humble opinion.

    Love

    /Hanni

Now I am off to meet the Dr. Who? The Dr.

    New blog

I created another blog for news and society comments. Perhaps later, I'll move some posts from here to the new one. In the future, I'll keep this space personal, as ordered :-p

Today I'll relax a few hours. Maybe there's some workout as well, before laundry at five...

    Other news...

To "relax" a bit, I decided to write something short about ther news, while at the same time watching "Batman and Robin" on TV (the swedish 'Kanal 5' at 18:35-21:00 today, if anyone from MPA is reading - in other words, of course I wouldn't download!)

There have been at least two new BOFH episodes since I last wrote - I read them both today, and found them a bit lacking in "evilosity" considering my mood. It was still funny reding about how the 'accidentally' ***** the **** ****** :-)

In 'real news', I've seen that Captain Copyright is probably in the grey zone of copyright infringement. However, I wouldn't suggest that you look at their site if you are in any way negative minded about anything, since they may classify your negative thoughts as an insult and sue you. Of course, I'm just joking, but reading this article, it seems like the good captain hasn't exactly considered every aspect of 'his' being.

Net2Phone is suing Skype (and its owners eBay) for patent infringement. Meanwhile, a TechDirt writer asks the legitimate question "why didn't they build Skype themselves and capture all that revenue when they had such a huge headstart?". I wonder if this will make eBay join the fight for a new way of defining patents and copyright. After all, the inventors of Skype also invented the file sharing software named "Kazzaa" (I know it's old news).....

    From slashdot, we see that:
A thought in front of the comp is to consider posture! Personally, I've learnt to move at least once every 17 hours - of course excluding my "every hour mouse-click"...
    • Swedish companies pay higher salaries to american M.Sc. (translated from swedish newspaper, and swedish title) employees than swedish, yet the swedish civil engineers get a much higher salary than their middle east and eastern european counterparts.
Time for me to check out the TV news and then some private vidcasts from todays "pirate demonstrations". There's a possibility that I'll update this post afterwards
