"Like That!"
Morning !
Do you remember me mumbling something about me recognizing the name of a scientist and architect when I read to you last night.
Well I did some reading about Christopher Wren and it turns out he is a rather interesting man - gifted, universally in a DaVinci kind of way - and just as him very much ahead of his time.
Being so lucky to come from a family befriended with the british monarch he became architect to the throne - As the Kings personal city planner
he designed buildings which have shaped Londons cityscape until today.
Alone the churches he build hit the number of 50 ! - half of them however where destroyed since the 17th century.
As a scientist he made funny experiments with dogs - which I think should become more popular again. But read for yourself:
“I Have Injected Wine and Ale in a living Dog into the Mass of Blood by a Veine, in good Quantities, till I have made him extremely drunk,” wrote the young Christopher Wren in 1656. “But soon after he Pisseth it out…it will be too long to tell you the Effects of Opium, Scammony & other things that I have tried this way: I am now in further pursuit of the Experiment.”
Thats kind of science I like - yo see stuff happening AND you can torture dogs.
However Christopher Wren did not design the "Footstool" like I thought (whoops) - it was Thomas Archer. This little story gave the footstool its name :
"Thomas Archer, consulted Queen Anne on the design of the new church. In reply the monarch petulantly kicked over her footstool and snapped 'like that!'
Both were in my presentation about cultural life in London though - since both designed buildings which now a used for concerts. So a little breakdown in brain matter organization.
Need to get some new organization charts for up there I suppose.
Hope you dont mind this excursion into my brain junctions - Also sorry if you feel kicked out of this blog - I love reading through ur brain junctions.
Luv from your honey
